“What’s Your Issue?”
Teenpath researcher Dr Shona Lee joined participants of the What’s Your Issue? youth arts programme at the Cavan Centre on April 1st. The initiative is a participatory arts-based programme to help young people in Dublin’s North Inner City to articulate their experiences and issues important to them through the medium of arts based media.
As part of the Teenpath’s Public Participant Involvement (PPI) approach, we are conducting an observational case study and evaluation of the What’s Your Issue programme. This involves following this year’s cohort of participants throughout the development of their individual project ideas up to their exhibition held in Dublin in September. Participants use a variety of media, including photography, film, music, clay, painting, to woodwork to explore issues from cyber-bullying, homelessness, drug addiction, and mental health.
Participants are from a number of youth clubs in the North Inner City, including Swan, Belvedere, Ballybough and International Youth Club. More information about What’s Your Issue and some of the brilliant projects created by young people in the city can be found here.
